Wedding at Taco Bell? Why not?
While I remain a critic to marriage as an institution, I was pleased to see some of those do opt to marry are turning their backs to the wasteful, useless wedding industry, which happens to be in trouble, and rightfully so in these uncertain economic times.
The bride wore a $15 hot pink dress and the entire wedding cost about $200. Several dozen guests looked on as the couple’s friend, Ryan Green of Normal, administered the vows while wearing a T-shirt. He was ordained online.
“This is the way to go — there’s no stress,” said the groom’s mother, Kathy Brooks. (LINK)

Weddings are not about the money! The whole point to having a wedding is to declare your love in front of witnesses and God being one of them. Having a wedding at Taco Bell kind of satirizes the whole meaning! I personally wouldn’t want a bunch of random people chowing down on some tacos in my wedding !

Those random people are witnesses, aren’t they?
If they did it as satire, good for them! They do seem to make a point of the low cost of it, and a good counterpoint to the self-indulgent narcissism of many lavish weddings. Some brides just want to be princesses, becoming the centre of attention in some infantile fairy tale fantasy, instead of perhaps saving for a down payment for a home.

A smart move. Too much money is wasted on weddings! Take them money one would spend on a wedding and put a down payment on a home, etc.
